Reinhard Bendix (1916 - 1991) was professor of political science at the University of California in Berkeley, where he has been teaching since 1947. Born in Berlin in 1916, Bendix fled the Hitler regime when he was twenty-two, and came to the United States, where he entered the University of Chicago.

Using the comparative method to advance explanation of politics, State and Society high-lights basic political alternatives and shows the conditions that determine the form politics will take in particular circumstances. (Via front flap)

Tight and intact. Book is extremely nice. Unmarked, spotless interior. The Jacket shows some minor wear to extremities. Excellent gift idea for the political guru in your family or friend. Great addition for your own library.
