New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1900
509 pages -- Approx. size; 7.5 by 5.25"

The book contains full-page illustrations by John Bernard Partridge.

This is a clever and baffling character-study of Thomas Sandys (whom the author first introduced to the public under the guise of “Sentimental Tommy”), and of Grizel, who adores him and studies his every act and motive.

J. M. Barrie (1860–1937) .. Sir James Matthew Barrie, 1st Baronet, OM was a Scottish author and dramatist, best remembered today as the creator of Peter Pan.

The son of a weaver, Barrie studied at the University of Edinburgh. He took up journalism, worked for a Nottingham newspaper, and contributed to various London journals before moving to London in 1885.

Very Good. First American edition. Decorative brown cloth stamped in gilt, green, and red. Illustrated with black and white plates. Mylar covering added by previous owner years ago.
Unfortunately the previous owner crudely taped the plastic to the inside of the endpapers, although it did protect the covers throughout the years. Slightly bumped corners and spine ends.

Interior is crisp and clean but slightly toned due to age. No writings other than a gift subscription "Joe, Le Grand Prix, For excellence in statistics" front endpaper in pencil.

Please see and enlarge photos and email with any questions prior to purchase. Thanks.
