Published by Alfred A. Knopf, New York Books measure approx. 8.5" x 6" Beautiful illustrations and drawings by the author Kahlil Gibran, a Lebanese-American writer, poet and visual artist; he was also considered a philosopher, although he himself rejected the title. He is best known as the author of The Prophet, which was first published in the United States in 1923 and has since become one of the best-selling books of all time. Here we have four of his classics; 1. Nymphs of the Valley 1967 2. The Voice of the Master 1958 (First Edition) 3. The Forerunner 1968 4. The Prophet 1977 A collection of poetic essays that are philosophical, spiritual, and, above all, inspirational. Gibran’s musings are divided into twenty-eight chapters. Gibran is the third best-selling poet of all time, behind Shakespeare and Laozi. Original dust jackets, most in very nice condition with The Prophet showing some soiling. The books are in very nice condition, again, the prophet shows some ink, a price and scribbles on first blank page. A few pages have been bent over at top as place marks. I have straightened them back but the crease remains. Still a wonderful collection of prose and deep reading. Please see photos and feel free to email with any questions prior to purchase. Thanks for looking. |
