The biography traces Reed's life and those experiences that helped to shape his music and philosophies. A complete listing of Reed's more than 250 works and premiers are categorized by genre. The extensive discography section cites more than 400 recordings, and the bibliography section includes the many writings by and about Reed. His professional career began as a staff composer and arranger, first for NBC and then for ABC. Alfred Reed (born as Alfred Friedman) (January 25, 1921 – September 17, 2005) was an American neoclassical composer, with more than two hundred published works for concert band, orchestra, chorus, and chamber ensemble to his name. He also traveled extensively as a guest conductor (most notably for the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra after the retirement of Frederick Fennell) and served as a professor at the University of Miami School of Music. Very nice condition both letter and book. Spotless interior. There is a smidgen of spotting upper left edge of front cover. (See photos).
