Publisher: Arco, NY 1975 Illustrated with many color plates 192 pages; Approx. Size - 10" by 7.5" Providing both the novice and the experienced collector a detailed survey of militaria from the beginning of 'modern' armies until the demise of full dress in 1914. Each section of the vast subject is dealt with under separate headings giving a handy quick reference as well as detailed text concerning the items under consideration. Descriptions not only include the era of the item, but its country of origin, where it was worn, why and by whom. The text also provides background information on the evolution of the various parts of head dress and uniform which went to make up the attire of the fighting soldier. There are useful chapters on restoration, places to buy and lists of the larger museums and collections. The black and white and color plates have been selected from the leading museums, collections, dealers and auction houses to provide a identification of militaria of many countries of the world. Book and jacket is very nice overall; looks like it has not been read. No writings. Bright, tight, clean and strong. Cloth covered book with purple decorated dust jacket. Would be fantastic gift for the Military buff or War and uniform interests. Reenactments etc. Please see and enlarge photos and email with any questions prior to purchase. Thanks! |
