This comprehensive handbook is designed as a useful reference for students, teachers, handweavers, and craft dyers. The first chapters describe in great detail the various lichens found in the United Kingdom and the United States which are most suitable to textile dyeing. Full-colour illustrations feature the lichens in their natural surroundings. The plants have been grouped so that their relative sizes, colours, and textures can be identified with ease! Many distinguishing features are revealed using enlarged illustrations. The remaining chapters provide detailed procedures for extracting the dyes followed by appendices on applicatable acids, and 1991 updated list reclassifying lichen with their present names.

Excellent gift idea or addition to your weaving or textile library.

Very nice vintage condition with dust jacket. The jacket has been clipped at top right of front flap. Jacket shows only minor shelfwear, very nice. Book is dark green cloth
