1939 United States Fidelity & Guaranty Co Year Book

This neat little green leather covered book was given out by the Harry J. Flynn Insurance co. in Chicago, ILL. US Fidelity put these out as a give away to promote businesses. This one is memorialized with the owner's diary with a wonderful life in a year writings. They mention with every day, the weather...good, bad, spring, summer and winter.

The beginning of the book states where it was received as a gift from I am assuming a son. "Paul sent us this Diary. John and I at 1057 26 Ave. S.E. Mpls, MN. Nick in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Paul at Chicago and Walter in Morenci Arizona." At the bottom of the first page it shows an address, 4228 Madison N.E. Minneapolis, MN. Researching the names and the previous home owner for 1939 at this address, I come up with Emma L. Peterson, married to John H. Peterson in 1939.

The book is comprehensive and detailed as stated above, the weather, the days activities and the families doings. Something must have happened during the last of the year, its showing they moved which distressed the woman greatly. They're new address 3986 Central Ave. Minneapolis, MN. Almost three months are blank before she starts to write again.  That address shows in 1939 it was a  a tree-lined block of early-suburban homes but today’s City Hall.

Very nice and well taken care of through the years. All writings are in pencil. Hard crease to center of book. Would be great for family or genealogy purposes.

Please see photos, enlarge and email with any questions. Thanks for looking.
