Chicago 1935 Language: English and German 41 pages -- approx. measurements 11.5" by 9" Very rare event catalog for what was considered The German Day, prior to World War II. This organization halted these gatherings due to the emense interest people took in the Nazi and Hitler activities in Germany, referred to since January of the same year - German Reich. This exercise brought in thousands of American German's to celebrate their Fatherland as stated in the news clipping via Chicago Tribune Sept. 15th, 1935. This is not offered with the book. Shown for it's information. The president at the time was the renown German artist Gustave A. Brand. Gustave A. Brand was an artist who was born in 1862. In MutualArt’s artist press archive, Gustave A. Brand is featured in Take a Look at Schurz High School’s Historic Murals, Restored After Leaks, Damage, a piece from Chicago Sun-Times in January 2022. The artist died in 1944. This connection to the German Day Celebration's were and are not mentioned in his history profiles for reason's explained prior. This book is loaded with great advertising for the city of Chicago and surrounding areas. It shows a killer Packard 120 Convertible Coupe with Lawrence Tibbett from the Twentieth Century - Fox Film 'Metropolitan'. Many pages are in both English and German. Very good vintage condition with only bumped corners and some minor wear from handling and storage. Considered again, very good for the age. Rare find. Please see and enlarge all photos.
