Map of the Chelly Canyon, Illustrated with drawings throughout.The scene is laid among the cliff dwellers of Chelly canyon and the story recounts the experiences of a child imprisoned in one of these stone dwellings for years who finally escapes.
The author's purpose is to describe in the story the location of the Native American cliff dwellers, (Pueblo) their character and manner of life and especially their homes hewn out of the solid rock and protected from their enemies by their inaccessibility from without. This comes from Bayliss's own library via estate purchase.
Covers are very bright and nice and book is sound & strong. Very hard to find in this very fine shape or else wise. Tan cloth boards with black lettering and Native American design and Pueblo Indian on the back.
