Alice Hale Burnett is an American author of children's books. She is best known for writing books set in a small town called Merryvale. Beth, Mary and Jerry - three little maids of Merryvale - take part in a very formal little affair on the lawn of Beth's home, and each of the guests receive a present. The drive home in Beth's pony cart furnishes a few exciting moments, but Patsy bravely comes to the rescue. Extremely attractive black and white illustrations and colored plates. Blue cloth with illustration paste down on front cover. This book looks as if it were in a time machine. Near mint condition with only very mild signs of age.
