Published by The Denver Post, Denver, 1959 384 pgs -- Approx. size: 10.25 in. wide x 12.5 in. tall. A special softcover book published by the Denver Post in 1959 to commemorate the centennial of the discovery of gold and silver in the Colorado Rockies in 1859. The ensuing gold rush was known as "The Rush to the Rockies" and led to rapid growth in the area. With color photos throughout showing scenic and historic views around Colorado. Also with a chapter on the history of Colorado, with black & white photos and drawings. The text and photos are accompanied by lots of advertisements by local merchants. Kept very well through the years. Though it shows minor age-toning to pages it is extremely nice for the age. The pages are stamped or with holes on edges for a reason I can't figure out. Looks part of the way it original was sent out. Large book with so many ad's for all mid-century business's, car lots, food spots, motels etc. Wonderful reminiscing. Please see and enlarge photos and email with any questions prior to purchase. Thanks |
